Belts and Buckles - Family Gappers

Airport security is tighter than ever before, by taking some simple measures you can speed things along for everyone. Measures like not wearing a belt, having your laptops, cameras all handy so you can slip them out of their bag into the security trays, if you have to, without having to unpack your whole carry-on bag.

Make sure your pen knife, scissors, nail clippers, toiletries, liquids more than 150 ml etc are not with you in your hand luggage.

If you tend to carry keys and loose change in your pocket take a small plastic bag with you so you put the coins in there and then into the security tray.
This way you don’t make a fool of yourself diving under counters looking for the coins you’ve just dropped everywhere!

(Click here for advice on not being ripped off at airport security.)

Slip on shoes are also helpful as many security checkpoints require you to remove footwear. If you are travelling with kids, doing/undoing three sets of laces at the same time as trying to watch where your laptop and passports and money belt are headed is tough!

Metal hair clips have also been known to delay us, so the children were restricted to fabric hair ties when we flew.
