Career Breaks - Shaking out the Cobwebs

"One's destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things."
Henry Miller

You don't have to hate your job to want a change. But we all become stale when we stick to the same routine day in day out. You can liven yourself up by doing small things, taking an evening class in botanical drawing or Spanish, joining a jazz club or a choir, becominginvolved in a cause close to your heart, choosing unusual destinations for your annual holidays.

But these will not alter the fundamentals of your life and for many people these smallish changes are simply not enough.

When the home routines begin to grate on your nerves and you find yourself craving a challenge or an opportunity to expose yourself to risk, it is time to give some thought to bringing about a change.

As they say, you'll be a long time dead. Few books (with the notable exception of Diary of a Nobody) have been written to catalogue every-day working life. But hundreds have been written by people who have had adventures when away from their everyday lives...
