Eliza's Cook Islands Journal

When we landed in Raratonga, it felt too hot. I was gasping for air I felt like I couldn’t breath! We got out the airport and got into the minivan that would talk us to our beach resort. I was very tired so when we got there I jumped into my very nice bed.  It was hard to get to sleep because it was way too hot.

In the morning I leaped out of bed and got ready to go to the beach.  Yippee! There was this wild dog and she was so sweet we didn’t know what to call her but we decided to call her sandy. She was always was covered in sand so that would be a good name.

The nine days was wonderful and relaxing, we met some nice people who were from England and they were travelling around the world. They rented a holiday house with a pool in it. There names were Tilly and Jamima they had a little brother called hector. We went round to there house a lot to do some swimming and so the adults could chit chat.

One night when we were feeding Sandy a little cat came round and hopped into our room and made him self cosy. He was a ginger cat and we called him Whisky and every night he would come round.

The weather was very hot and sometimes it even rained! I loved playing on the beach the sand was nice and soft underneath my bear feet. Sarah and often did the long jump I went really far, one time I landed on a rock, it was really painful.

For dinner we had spaghetti most of the time but we went round to have dinner at tilly’s house. We rented a really really cool car it was a convertible.

We mostly did the same thing every day but what I looked forward to the most was going snorkelling. There were some amazing fish there were stripy yellow fish and even a puffer fish there was one time were we come across an eel! It was boring going to the same place every day so we went to the fruits of Raratonga there was amazing fish there too. I enjoyed it so much because we could feed the fish and they ate out your hand!

It was amazing there were bright yellow fish that had a pattern on. There were great fish that were big as my head and long as my arm they were the ones that always ate out my hand. We loved it there so we asked Tilly, Jamima , Hector and there mum and dad to come snorkelling with us. I loved it and so did everyone else, we all had a great time.

Town was very small, but what can I say we were on a small island. It rained nearly every day so we had wait indoors until it stopped. We went to town once and got caught in the rain so we went home soaked to the skin. Whisky came in when it was raining but sandy didn’t.

We had a bit of a disaster because Sarah got an ear infection uh oh! And just as we were leaving too so we went to the doctors all hopping for luck. They gave her medicine so it would make her better.

The Cook islands was a wonderful place but nine days don’t last for ever. It was time to go to America. I didn’t want to leave Sandy and Whisky but we had to say goodbye and move on. We said goodbye to them and Tilly and her brother and sister.
