We're tempting fate by throwing the apparent stability of our family into a den of wolves by packing ourselves in an indiscreet van around Australia for 8 weeks. Albert, Jett and Leliyn. Check out their blog
DaVinci , Jeanne D'Arc and Mozart (Nicknames!)
We are a family of three from Santa Cruz, California. Mom and Dad are in our early 50's and our "nina" is 5 years old.The first two and half years we travel in Europe with southern Spain as the winter base following the good weather and our inner whims including trips into Russia,Africa and Egypt. Later bases will probably be Buenos Aires for South America and Thailand for the Far East, Australia and New Zealand. Their Blog is here

Life's too short...which is why we're jacking in the reliable, grown-up, responsible stuff to take our gorgeous 7 and 4 year old girls off on a year long family RTW trip. We big ones have done this before, heading off fresh from Uni in 1995 - it's all new for the littlies, but they are so openminded and accepting of the world, and most of all just want to be with us. Jobs, house, finances, route, meds, home-schooling etc are making it all so different this time around!! You can find their blog here and their website here
Already Back
Sarah James & David Carlson and their three kids (aged 13, 10, and 8) took one year off and traveled the world. This web site is a family journal of the trip.
Sixintheworld is a family of six, ranging in age from 38 to 4, on a yearlong round the world adventure. This blog tracks their preparation and travels from May 2006 through August 2007.
In June, 2005, my wife and I quit our jobs and packed up our home. Over the next 52 weeks we visited 28 countries on five continents, crossing 24 time zones. Along the way we saw the beauty of the Swiss Alps , the grandeur of the Great Wall of China and the ugliness of the Cambodian Killing Fields . We stayed in the humblest of inns of the Bolivian Altiplano and witnessed the dazzling lights of Hong Kong. Check out their blog and/or their site
Wes and Masami terminated their travels after 2 years 5 months and 21 days. Our itinerary had another 8 months that would have taken us through Australia, New Zealand, Tahiti, and much of South America. But even the freedom of travel has a natural psychological conclusion. As we traveled, we continued to ask ourselves: What's important in life? What do want to do? What did we appreciate before our travels? At what point will our dream of travel be satisfied? People differ. We met some people who thought 6 months was overkill. We met others who have been traveling for 5 years and have no intention of stopping. Masami and Wes both wanted to conclude our trip at the 24-month mark. Thank goodness we both felt like stopping at around the same time. Other couples we met weren't as fortunate. Around the world with Wes and Masami
