Gap year taxis
"It is solved by walking." - Algerian Proverb
Before children I travelled a lot and had in fact visited over 30 countries. I almost always did it on the cheap and I NEVER used taxis and I didn't (stupid) bargain on taxis this time around.
I simply did not anticipate the fact that, when walking to get to a show, exhibit etc, the children were often so knackered by the walk alone that they couldn’t raise much enthusiasm once we got to where ever we were going. Naturally this problem was far worse when it was very, very hot and or humid (and having ridden in a couple beautifully air conditioned taxis in Singapore I quickly found the value in them!)
However, as the trip progressed, we became fitter and fitter so it ceased being such a big problem.
