Gap Year Travel for Adults with Kids.

I didn't ride with the children. Instead I relaxed with my feet in the river and simply waited. It was delicious!

Prescription Medicine - Gap Year

"The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are.” - Samuel Johnson

Travelling with prescription medicine can be complicated and rules may vary from country to country. If you do have to carry medicine it is wise to do the following:

  • Don't remove your medication from it's original packaging. (This applies to ALL medication including vitamins and headache tablets.)

  • Carry more than you plan on needing.

  • Cross pack them so if one suitcase goes missing you are not stuck without medication

  • Scan and/or carry a copy of the original prescription and make sure that both the generic and trade names of the medication are on the prescription.

  • A doctor's note describing why you are taking the medication is also recommended.

  • Check and see if you are legally allowed to ingest the medication in the countries you intend visiting.

  • If you need to use syringes bear in mind the following:

    • Can you carry enough to last you the entire trip, if not will you be able to get more?

    • If you need to have it as carry on luggage you will need to contact the airlines that you will be flying with to find out the regulations with regards having this onboard with you.
