Gap Year Towels - Microfibre towels

" If you come to a fork in the road….. Take it." Yoga Berra

I made a big error in packing three largish towels for us. These almost took up half a bag in themselves. My thinking had been that, should we get stuck, these towels could double up as blankets.

We never needed towels at all. The camper van came with towels, as did all the hotels and most youth hostels offered towels for hire. I should have carried three stormlite/microfibre towels and used our sarongs for the beach.

Furthermore the large towels were a pain to carry, a nightmare to wash and took a long time to dry in cooler climates.

Microfibre towelsMicrofibre towels take a fraction of the space and weight, have a towelling finish, dry 8x quicker than a standard towel and have an anti-bacterial treatment that helps prevent odour and improve hygiene.

Our Microfibre towels that we now have are about 75 cm squared and fit into a sandwhich bag. Vey neat and easy.

That said, I don't like the feel of them. The fabric feels as if it catching an dry skin, dry skin that you don't actually have. Not so good.

Travel Towels

You can also get travel towels which feel a bit like chamois leather, nicer than the above, but they need fairly regular washing or they in turn start to smell.
